Redirection and Re-routes, Setbacks for Setups
Watering The Seed Podcast - Coach D. Jackson
There’s a moment in every spiritual journey where you’ve got to make a choice: keep trying to DJ your own life with broken records and scratched-up playlists… or hand God the aux cord and let Him set the vibe.
When we say “God’s got the aux,” we’re talking about trust at the deepest level. It means you're no longer curating your life based on what feels good temporarily, but what aligns eternally. It’s about surrendering the playlist of your plans and embracing divine timing, divine sequencing, and divine clarity—even when the beat drops differently than you expected.
Let me tell you a real story that brought this lesson home.
Re-route True Story: When God Says “Not Tonight”
It was the holiday season, and my best friend had invited me to her company’s Christmas party. I had class that evening, but after class, I planned to throw on my outfit, show up, and show out. I was genuinely excited. After work, I ran home for a quick break before class—but the moment I walked through the door, something shifted. I felt weak, drained, off.
I sat on the edge of my bed and eventually laid down, thinking I just needed a moment. But that moment turned into hours. I missed class. I missed the party. And when I called to tell my friend I wouldn’t be coming, her voice had that sharp “Okay” we all know too well. Disappointment with a side of shade.
I felt guilty. I felt like I let her down. But deep down, I also knew—I wasn’t supposed to go. Whether it was spiritual protection, physical rest, or emotional clarity, I trusted the unexplainable. That was a night I had to let God take the aux… and I’m so glad I did. Around midnight, I felt better. It was as if I was never sick. A call came through, and it was my friend explaining that she had been in an accident with a tree. I speak about it in more details in my podcast Ep.14. Click here to have a listen.
When God’s got the aux:
- You stop chasing validation from people who can’t hear your frequency.
- You learn the power of the pause between tracks—the silence that strengthens.
- You realize some skipped songs were protection, not punishment.
Letting God DJ your life doesn’t mean you stop dancing. It means you finally move in rhythm with something bigger, wiser, and way more lit than anything you could’ve queued up yourself.
Reflection Questions:
- What areas of my life am I still trying to control the playlist?
- What would it feel like to fully trust God's timing—even in the silence?
- Where have I seen God's hand remix what I thought was a mistake?
I release control and trust the rhythm of God’s divine plan. I don't have to force what's flowing, God's already orchestrating my next. Even in silence, I believe the next track is filled with grace, growth, and glory.
